2002 - 2013
2002: On the Sonneberger Netz
S•T•B started to run between Eisfeld and Sonneberg on 3rd October 2002, followed by the section to Ernstthal/Neuhaus am Rennweg, twelve days later. Within the new industrial park Koelleda, a new connecting railway came into being, which EIB is responsible for. The company intends to further support freight transport regionally - a typical challenge in the best of industrial railway traditions.
2004: Opening of the advanced Service Center and first reunion in Erfurt
On 24th May 2004, the advanced Service Center for rail cars was opened, newly equipped with inspection pits, cranes, a washing installation and an individually moveable roof working structure. In addition to the modernized original workshop, these are the ideal conditions for servicing the own cars and further vehicles from third parties. 15 railway companies from all over Germany presented their advanced cars (local trains) at the first reunion in Erfurt at the railway yard of the Erfurter Bahn GmbH on 3rd October 2004 (the open day). The exhibition of railway technology was a successful event, which fascinated experts and fans.
2004/2005: New routes in Lower Franconia (Bavaria)
At the change of timetable in 2004/2005, Erfurter Bahn started to run the routes of Kissinger Stern, on behalf of Bayrische Eisenbahngesellschaft. More precisely, the route between Schweinfurt, Ebenhausen and Meiningen as well as the route between Bad Kissingen and Gemünden, called “Fränkische Saalebahn”.
2009: Arrive in the best way…
This is the central theme of Erfurter Bahn GmbH. Passengers and freight customers shall arrive in the best way, every time and on time. In order to implement this concept, 55 advanced cars (“Regio-Shuttle”), ITINO car and two locomotives V100 are available.
2012: 100th anniversary and start of the diesel-powered railroad network of East-Thuringia
The company's new Control Center was opened on 2nd March, and at the end of the month Erfurter Bahn GmbH celebrated their 100th anniversary on 30th and 31st March 2012. On 10th June, Elster-Saale-Bahn started to run within the diesel-powered railroad network of East-Thuringia. Later that day, the new customer service center Gera welcomed their first visitors.
